In Samarqand there are two esteemed places connected with burials of Islamic lawyers from the Arabian clan of Abdi going back to Caliph Usman. These are mausoleums of Abdi-Darun and Abdi-Birun. The first was located inside the city, and the 17th century by famous minister Nadir Divan-beghi at mazar of Khodja Abdi who might be among the first Islam preachers in Samarqand. Abdi-Darun is a mausoleum of his descendant Khodja Abdal-Maz ad-Din who was Samarqand qazi in the 9th century. The foundations date back to the 12th century. In the 15th century, the mausoleum was added with a room for praying opened on the courtyard with water reservoir.
