Uzbekistan greets tourists from Japan

Uzbekistan has hosted representatives of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA). The main purpose of their visit is to open Uzbekistan to a greater number of tourists from Japan. The official meeting of heads of Uzbekistan Airways and JATA was held on May 13, at the head office of Uzbekistan Airways, Tashkent.

For the last years the relationships between Uzbekistan and Japan have been developing very dynamically. Japan considers Uzbekistan as a state holding a high position in ensuring safety and stability in the region of Central Asia and which is fertile in tourism resources. Such approach deepened Japanese interest to collaborate with Uzbekistan comprehensively.

The air route between Japan and Uzbekistan was established seven years ago (in April 2001 the regular flights to Osaka, and in November 2002 to Tokyo were started).

Today we fly to two main airports of the Land of the Rising Sun – Narito (Tokyo) and Kansay (Osaka), giving the opportunity to Japanese passengers to use more than 45 destinations of our airline around the world and also to make a fascinating voyage to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, at the same time to see the life of the modern independent state.

Uzbekistan Airways is the most profitable airline, giving the most convenient two-way flights connections for trips from Southeastern Asia to European countries. National airline of Uzbekistan has wide world over sales network and many airlines-partners.

Uzbekistan can offer to Japan tourists the exclusive tourist product, they are unique architectural monuments, most of which are put in the world heritage list by UNESCO, and also comfortable and attractive ecotourism routes. Japanese specialists showed a big interest in developing of this kind of tourism, the revival of national trade and old traditions of workmanship in the republic, which will also attract Japanese travelers.

It must be noted, that in Japan from January 1, 2007 the “Law on tourism promotion” entered into force. On the basis of this Law the five-year plan of tourism promotion was developed by the government of Japan in June of 2007. It’s stipulated by the plan before 2010 to bring the quantity of Japanese tourists travelling abroad to 20 million people annually, and foreigners visiting Japan to 10 million.

What attracts Japanese guests to Uzbekistan? Relying on the opinion and appraisal of Japanese, some of the most attractive and interesting sites for Japanese tourists are the blue domes of Samarkand, which even have a special name in Japanese – “Samarkand Blue”. The famous madrasahs of Bukhara and the city-monument under the open sky, Khiva, elicit a lot of interest from Japanese. In Japan, a tourist trip to Uzbekistan is considered to be an educational one which satisfies mental and cognitive needs. Every year about 3-4 thousand Japanese tourists visit Uzbekistan, however this amount is comparative because several thousands of transit Japanese passengers going to other countries use our air gateway annually.

The Management of JATA emphasized that Japanese can value the beautiful, and the ancient cities of your country hit their fancy. Japanese people who are spoilt by bleeding-edge accomplishments feel extraordinary trepidation to every handmade by folk masters, especially if the tradition of their trade throws back.
